You made me think of Caitlin Johnstone the "Guerilla Poet" with that poetry. The sad images rend my soul.
Earlier today I thought of the children starving as their parents watched unable to do anything about it. Their only chance is outside help. It's always the children who starve first. My grandparents had to go through that. They lost the youngest of four. The rest survived because of outside help.
We must do whatever possible to feed and heal these innocents. Collectively we have power.
“Collectively we have power”. That’s what we’re told and I’d so like to believe that we have. But I don’t see it. Unwieldy, slow moving and ineffectual Bureaucracy, (UN), entwined with global and local politics all but shred this power in my very humble opinion. Action delayed is action denied or whatever the expression is. The evil empire won’t be stopped - not by the millions of ‘ordinary’ people worldwide, weeping, praying, donating, marching, raging into the night at this merciless inhumanity. The devastating images rend my soul too Longtrail. Today is one of those days where I’ve just lost hope…..
This is where reading history helps. We become aware of the long time-frames. I read a lot of science and medical history and it is well documented that it can take a century before a new and necessary idea takes hold. In the same way in centuries past people worked on building cathedrals, knowing they would never see it finished but their grandchildren might. I follow no religion but I have deep respect for the spiritual nature of human beings.
Our leaders who condone this evil and go after those who speak out have revealed what they really are. Any pretence that they "work for us" is out the window. When they speak they should be drowned out by derisive laughter. And I should think it's been another bad year for the bought legacy media.
Keep the faith, never lose hope and never give up. I understand how you feel and there's nothing wrong with taking a break.
Although it seems we're living Heinlein's Crazy Years and progress is slow, it seems crazy because of the rapid change. Progress is slow because of contention and competition instead of cooperation and collaboration.
To break the logjam at the UN all that has to be done is removing the Security Council. No more veto power and no member is exceptional. A 60% Supermajority will suffice.
Beautiful, moving and sad. Thanks for posting, Roslyn.
